DIRECT ACCESS INTERPRETING SERVICES was established in response to the needs of thousands of refugees and immigrants who have been arriving in Minnesota over the past decade. A majority of these are victims of war and ethnic conflicts. They are in desperate need of access to Welfare Application, Employment, Healthcare, Education and Housing just to mention a view. However, most of them are unable to access these services because of language barriers.

As Direct Access Interpreting Services commenced its services to this particular group, it began to realize that the need for language assistance was equally as great for many arriving from other continents facing the same challenges. As a concerned partner of the community and state, Direct Access Interpreting Services responded to these needs by expanding its services to many other ethnic groups. While our specialty still resides in providing “hard to find” language interpretation, Direct Access Interpreting Services also provides quality interpreting and translation for Arabic, Amharic, Anuak, Chinese, Cambodian, Farsi, Hmong, Japanese, Mandarin, Oromo, Pashto, Spanish, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Nuer, Tigrinya, Vietnamese and other languages.
